Donald Trump has stated he is raising duties on goods brought in from Canada after the province of Ontario ran an anti-import tax commercial including former President Reagan.

In a Truth Social update on Saturday, Trump described the commercial a "deception" and lashed out at Canada's leaders for not taking down it before the World Series.

"Because of their major distortion of the facts, and unfriendly action, I am hiking the import tax on Canada by 10% on top of what they are being charged now," he stated.

Subsequent to the President on Thursday ended trade negotiations with Canadian officials, the Ontario premier announced he would remove the commercial.

The Province Response

Ontario Premier Ford declared on Friday that he would halt his territory's anti-import tax commercial series in the United States, telling the media that he made the decision after talks with the Prime Minister Carney "in order that trade talks can restart".

He also said it would remain broadcast during the weekend, including games for the World Series, which features the Blue Jays against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trade Situation

Canada is the exclusive G7 state that has not reached a agreement with the US since the President began attempting to levy significant tariffs on products from key commercial allies.

The United States has previously imposed a 35% tax on every Canada's products - though the majority are excluded under an present free trade agreement. It has additionally slapped targeted levies on Canadian products, such as a 50 percent levy on steel and aluminum and twenty-five percent on vehicles.

In his post, published while he was traveling to Asia, Trump seemed to say he was including an additional 10% to the existing tariffs.

75% of Canada's overseas sales are sold to the America, and the region is host to the largest share of the nation's vehicle industry.

Reagan Commercial Details

The advertisement, which was sponsored by the Ontario government, references former US President Ronald Reagan, a Republican and symbol of American conservatism, saying import taxes "hurt American citizens".

The video includes segments from a 1987-era broadcast that centered on international trade.

The Foundation, which is tasked with preserving the ex-president's memory, had condemned the advertisement for using "edited" sound and footage and stated it falsified the former president's remarks. It also said the Ontario government had not requested permission to use it.

Ongoing Disputes

In his message on Truth Social on Saturday, Donald Trump said that the commercial should have been removed sooner.

"Ontario's Ad was to be removed AT ONCE, but they kept it broadcasting last night during the MLB finals, knowing that it was a FRAUD," Trump stated, while en route to Malaysia.

Ford had previously pledged to broadcast the Reagan advert in each Republican-led district in the America.

Each of the President and the PM will be attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in Southeast Asia, but Trump advised journalists traveling with him on Air Force One that he does not have any "desire" of meeting with his Canadian counterpart during the trip.

In his post, the President further claimed Canadian officials of seeking to manipulate an forthcoming American high court lawsuit which could end his complete tax system.

The case, to be heard by the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, will decide whether the tariffs are lawful.

On last Thursday, the President also condemned, stating that the advert was designed to "tamper" with "the most significant legal case"

MLB Finals Association

The Reagan ad is not the sole way that the region – home of the Toronto Blue Jays – is using the World Series as a stage to criticise the President's tariffs.

In a video posted on Friday, Doug Ford and California Governor Newsom humorously agreed on stakes about which club would succeed in the series.

The two leaders frequently bantered about duties in the clip, with the Premier vowing to deliver the Governor a container of syrup if the LA Dodgers triumph.

"The tariff might charge me a higher price at the frontier currently, but it'll be justified," he wrote.

In answer, Newsom suggested Ford to continue permitting American-produced alcohol to be sold in Ontario alcohol shops, and vowed to send "the state's championship-worthy grape drink" if the Toronto team win.

They ended their exchange both declaring: "To a great MLB finals, and a tax-free alliance between the region and California."
