Reigning Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.
The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of High Performance
Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
