Texas Attorney General Takes Legal Action Against Tylenol Manufacturers Regarding Autism Allegations

Judicial Action
The Texas Attorney General, who supports former President Trump seeking election to the United States Senate, alleged the drug companies of hiding the risks of Tylenol

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the makers of Tylenol, alleging the firms concealed safety concerns that the drug created to children's neurological development.

This legal action comes thirty days after President Donald Trump publicized an unverified association between taking acetaminophen - also known as paracetamol - while pregnant and autism in children.

Paxton is filing suit against J&J, which once produced the medication, the sole analgesic recommended for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a declaration, he said they "misled consumers by gaining financially from suffering and pushing pills without regard for the potential hazards."

Kenvue says there is insufficient reliable data linking acetaminophen to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations deceived for years, intentionally threatening millions to line their pockets," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

The manufacturer said in a statement that it was "deeply concerned by the spread of false claims on the security of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the health of American women and children."

On its official site, the company also mentioned it had "continuously evaluated the pertinent research and there is insufficient valid information that indicates a established connection between using paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations representing physicians and medical practitioners agree.

ACOG has stated paracetamol - the primary component in Tylenol - is one of the few options for pregnant women to manage pain and fever, which can present major wellness concerns if not addressed.

"In multiple decades of investigation on the use of paracetamol in pregnancy, not a single reputable study has definitively established that the use of paracetamol in any stage of pregnancy leads to neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group commented.

The court filing cites recent announcements from the former administration in asserting the medication is potentially dangerous.

Recently, Trump generated worry from public health officials when he told pregnant women to "struggle intensely" not to consume acetaminophen when sick.

The FDA then issued a notice that medical professionals should think about restricting the usage of acetaminophen, while also mentioning that "a direct connection" between the drug and autism in children has remains unverified.

The Health Department head RFK Jr, who manages the FDA, had promised in April to conduct "extensive scientific investigation" that would establish the origin of autism in a limited time.

But specialists warned that finding a single cause of autism - believed by scientists to be the consequence of a intricate combination of inherited and surrounding conditions - would prove challenging.

Autism spectrum disorder is a category of enduring cognitive variation and disability that influences how persons experience and engage with the surroundings, and is recognized using physician assessments.

In his court filing, the attorney general - who supports Trump who is seeking federal office - claims the manufacturer and Johnson & Johnson "intentionally overlooked and tried to quiet the research" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

The lawsuit attempts to require the companies "destroy any commercial messaging" that states acetaminophen is secure for women during pregnancy.

The court case mirrors the grievances of a collection of guardians of children with autism and ADHD who filed suit against the makers of Tylenol in recently.

Judicial authorities rejected the lawsuit, declaring studies from the plaintiffs' authorities was inconclusive.
