Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer fitting to comment publicly regarding the Trump administration, fearing it could exacerbate polarizing arguments and increase separation within the nation.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says Lawrence

During a discussion, the Oscar winner commented, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, through repeated campaigns, Hollywood stars fail to influence at all on electoral choices.”

Lawrence added, “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the nation apart.”

Political Evolution

Lawrence has previously been open about supporting right and leftwing candidates in past elections. Raised by conservative Republicans in her home state, she voted for John McCain in 2008 before joining the left-leaning politics and explaining she recognized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was voting against her personal freedoms as a woman.

Previous Comments

Several years ago, she stated that a Trump victory would be “a catastrophic event” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to Kamala Harris, “as I believe she’s an excellent choice and I am confident that she will make every effort to defend women’s health rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her disapproval of Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the electoral decisions was underscored by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years feels different,” noted the actress about his leadership. “Since he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for his first term. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

Lawrence is highlighting the drama, Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she plays a recent parent who struggles with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. During a media event for the project in the film festival, Lawrence spoke about Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “It’s frightening. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a genocide and it’s awful.”

The actress elaborated by expressing that she was disheartened by “the lack of civility in the discourse of American politics at present and how that is going to be commonplace to the kids now. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”

She attempted to refocus anger about the issue to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on who is responsible,” she advised, in what many took to be a nod to the recent commitment signed by numerous Hollywood professionals to avoid specific industry bodies.

While Lynne Ramsay has rejected the narrative being understood as one of maternal mental health issues and psychological distress, the actress said that she did relate to aspects of her film narrative after the delivery of her youngest child, soon after filming concluded.

“There was concern regarding my baby,” she commented, “just picturing every negative outcome, and then doubting everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I started taking a treatment called the prescription and I took it for two weeks and it was effective.”

Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned regarding the empowering aspect of completing nude scenes in the movie while she was expecting and limited physically.

“It feels nice,” she said, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “Truly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
