Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order issued a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide could have acted when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
